This is especially true when straight hair styles are in vogue. I have a straightening iron so that I can wear straight hair styles too, but in truth I very rarely use it. My hair dresser told me that when women with curly hair consistently use a straightening iron to achieve straight hair styles it can dry the hair out. Hence I only ever wear straight hair styles on special occasions. For example I might straighten my hair when I am going to a party. My step-granddaughter also has a straightening iron. However I have warned her about perpetually insisting on straight hair styles. I keep telling my granddaughter that curly hair styles can be very pretty too. I also think that women who have curly hair tend to suit it. Hence for the most part I tend to buy products that are meant to emphasize and define my curls.
