hair careMy step-granddaughter considers some of my hair care habits strange. The other evening she saw me douse my entire head with olive oil then tie it up loosely and leave it like that for some time. She looked confused and asked me why I had done what I just did. I explained to her that what she was witnessing was a hair care routine that has been popular with Greek women for years.  It is a hair care tip I learned from a woman called Konstandina when I was living and working in Athens during my twenties. She told me about it when I asked how come her hair always looked so healthy and glossy. Olive oil helps to get rid of a dry flaky scalp. It is also good for course, dry hair. The hair care tip comprises soaking the scalp and hair with olive oil, leaving it on for about forty-five minutes and then shampooing and conditioning as usual. I have found this hair care tip to be extremely effective.  It’s no coincidence that olive oil is such a common ingredient in many of the hair care products that are popular among consumers.
